Phew. We left San Diego early Tuesday morning, May 17th, and set off with one destination in sight...Chico, CA. Wow, you might say. Chico? For your honeymoon? Uhm...okay...sure. Well, if you're a beer connoisseur, of even a mild beer enthusiast, you probably know that Chico is the home of the second largest craft brewery in the US, Sierra Nevada!
Despite a long day, involving a car accident on the I-5N in LA, a trip to Walmart to replace a crushed cooler, a trip to the bodyshop to gather belongings from our dear totaled Fusion, and a trip to Enterprise to collect a rental Rav 4, we made it to Chico, battered, tired, and totally ready for some beer.
The gift shop was closed, but we didn't care! As you drive up you pass their fields of lovely smelling hops!
And you might not be able to tell, but to the right is where you can plug in your electric cars to charge. We entered the hollowed ground of Sierra Nevada to eat at their restaurant. The place is great. Tons of copper (the entire bar!) and dark wood, and a laid back feel without being a grimey old bar.
| See, the bar is copper! Here are the first two beers of the trip! |
This is the Snowed-In Stout (left) and the Beer Camp Double IPA (right)

Here we have the Ovila (left) and the Juniper Black (right)
Ah. Sierra Nevada. Excellet food, great atmosphere, and of course, great beer.
On this stop, we drank: Beer Camp Double IPA, Ovila, Snowed-In Stout, and Juniper Black.
Don't worry Sierra Nevada fans, more pics of the brewery in the next post! (We came back the next morning!)
